Cam and lifter wear

I just had another cam and lifter set go bad in my 67. This is the third cam, and it keeps wearing out on the same lobe and lifter. The motor is being pulled again to be checked. Any ideas what the engine shop should be looking for?

#8 exhaust?

What kind of oil do you use?

When I wiped my cam out the cylinder walls were scored and needed to honed or bored even more. I ended up going with a 5.0 since the old block was already 40 over. It saved me money by saving on machine work and by getting a roller block I didn't need to worry about wiping a cam anymore. I got a complete engine shipped to my door for $450 and it came with a 1 year warranty.

After three separate failures in the same place, I would suspect the lifter bore, lifter, and pushrod for that lobe. I suspect that the lifter is binding in the bore or the pushrod is binding against the head or block either of which could be creating enough resistance over time to cause wear that eventually leads to failure.
