aka...make sure your hood is latched when leaving home.
Ok, I'll be the first to admit that I should nominate myself for the Idiot Award. I go to take off the other morning, and I didn't notice that when I closed the hood the night before, I didn't latch it -- just put it down. I take off, and just when I'm starting to get going I see the hood start to flap...OH CRAP!!! Before I could slam on the brakes, the hood came up. It doesn't take much air to bring up a fiberglass hood. Luckily there was no one behind me. I just stopped in the middle of the road and completely shut the hood. I get back to the garage and check out the damage. I was lucky -- minimal damage. I'm missing a little more paint from the front lip of the cowl...no biggie the car is still in it's primer redneck phase. The hood took the worst of it. But all I can see that it did was separate the hood from the frame and a maybe took a small piece out of the rear corner.
