Hey, guys. Thought I would come over here and say "HEY!"
Finally, blu will be getting some more love. I'm going out to Dave's for 4 days of "work"...LOL I get in on Wednesday and we should hopefully get to start a gameplan and what we plan on getting done over those 4 days. We'll take lots of pics and be sure to keep you all updated.
Here's what she looked like a few weeks ago.

here's a pic of the 1/4 that was the most damaged. Driver side is fixable I believe. We'll see.

Re: Blu starts reconstructive surgery next Thursday!!!

Very cool, Chris. I hope you guys can knock out a lot of work in the 4 days. Around here, right now, it's pretty hard to work past noon, as the temperatures cross the 97 degree mark.

Looks like Dave has all the damaged stuff off, so it's just a matter of reassembly now, huh? It does look like there's a bit of welding to be done during reassembly, though.

Re: Blu starts reconstructive surgery next Thursday!!!

Welcome chris. Looks like a fun project. I've read the posts about trying to get overhaulin involved and local people and such, but i never did find out what all the damage was caused by. Can you give any insite?

In December '06, I was cut off on the freeway (which was no big deal. happens all the time in CA) but then he slammed on his brakes. In trying to avoid hitting him, I swerved wildly and wound up hitting the center divider, spinning around and hitting the rear 1/4 before coming to a stop. Scary as hell. But I survived.
One of the Vintage Mustangers, Laurie Slauson (sp?) got in touch with Jim Smart at Mustang Monthly to see if he could help. With the response from other VMFer's, Jim wanted to do a story about bringing the car back to life as it was my mom's first car.
Logistics got in the way here in CA and getting an OVERHAULIN' type of tear down just didn't happen. Dave at DVS Restorations in IN had said from the beginning that if I could get the car to him in IN, he would get it back on the road. So a year after the accident, it made it to DVS and has been there ever since. It got to a frame shop to straighten out the frame rails and all the front sheet was removed. I removed the interior here.
My trip at Dave's will hopefully allow some of the front sheetmetal to get back on and it can start to look like a car again.

Re: Blu starts reconstructive surgery next Thursday!!!

:rofl Im sure he's done that already!

Re: Blu starts reconstructive surgery next Thursday!!!

Sorry, guys. I just uploaded the pics tonight. I got back into town (my town, that is) on Wednesday.
Everything went pretty smoothly. Gene J from the VMF came by and helped on Friday and we managed to get everything off but the dash wiring, headliner and the glass. Dave and his son cut the front off at basically the firewall. We did keep the unmolested and undamaged shocktowers just in case. Maybe they will be good for soemone if we do sell them.
Here are a few pics I took of the end result. I was too busy to snap some while work was progressing!
The vinyl top was removed after these pics were taken.

Thats awesome chris, when does reconstruction begin? Are you keeping the stock looks or teaking it? Keep up the good work!

Chris,
Just where or what is this place that you are working on your car at? Looks like a pretty fun place to hang at....

Very nice job chris. Quarter panel looks like fun. I have never done any of that kind of work. R U a body guy who can do that your self. I do like the color BLUE. Is that the color you will be painting the car. Can't wait to see it done. Good luck

Dave and I have talked about a few tweaks here and there that may make it a bit different.
Reconstruction is going to be slow. Dave works on it when he gets time and after the bills are paid...
