So here is the new phantom gauges. The bezel is in place for now, i just need to wire them up and im golden. Got the Speakers all hocked up. I need to tuck a few wires, and its done too. Amazing the difference a half decent stereo set up makes in these cars. Now for the pics.

A little bit a dremel work, and they slide right in. I decided to front mount them, rather then take the gauge apart.

Thanks J. I dont think they are as bad as everyone says. I dont even notice them sticking out that much when im sitting in the car. Of course i only have two pedals, right rick?

FYI, the tach and speedo can fit behind the bezel without taking the gauges apart... There are a few supports around the tapered portion of the bezel ( what you ground out ) ... if you dremel out just those areas, the inner portion of the gauge ring fits snug up to the bezel. You might find that with the gauges that far forward that the night driving will be a bit annoying as the gauge lighting may reflect on the windsheild. Also, Autometer makes angled sleeves so you can keep your 2-5/8 gauges pointed in the same direction as the speedo and tach...

If I recall correctly, the only thing I needed to trim on the speedo was one of the long mounting studs on the back side, and also may need to give a little bend to vertical dash support for clearance, but with the trimmed screw. the support might be fine as is...

I originally did it the way you have it shown, but then revised it as described above.... I too did not want to cut up the gauges.

Thanks guys... The column and pedal assembly are out of an '89 Mustang. I had to switch over to an '86 style multifuntion switch for the signals because the '89 one was far too bulky. Steering wheel is from an '85/6 GT. I had an '86 GT when new and was always my favorite steering wheel. On the pedals I welded on larger pads so that the pedals would look more original. The vinyl covering on the column is simply taped on over manilla folder... Now that I'm closer to having a pattern I'll make something nicer.

Sooo, Say a guy wanted to steal that car, how would he go about starting it, I dont see a key on the column, or is it just blacked by the gauge pod in the ashtray?
