Are we using the term "Doofus" here?

If so, I did one tonight.

@#$% :fbomb

I can't bring myself to take a picture, nor describe what I did. You can't tell it from the pics I just added (taken afterwards) to the build thread.

@#$% :fbomb

I'm not sure I'll be able to have it fixed either.

I need to go pour a still beam and coke and not touch the car anymore tonight.

You're just going to leave us hanging here? :weas C'mon...we all want to drool!

Ok, ok.

I installed the windshield tonight, sealed it with bedding and glazing, water tested it for leaks, and installed in the trim. Top driver side trim wouldn't go on the clips easy, so I brought out the rubber mallet. Trying to go easy and not dent the stainless trim, I offset to towards the roof. Apparently the roof bend there isn't as strong as it appears, because the rubber mallet put a few dents just behind the stainless trim. :fbomb

I'm hoping a paintless dent removal guy can get in there through the hole for the sunvisor pilot, otherwise I'm pretty much stuck looking at those dents.

This is along the leading edge of the roof skin?

Ouch......

I know it's a little late, but for future reference when using a mallet to "tap" on the SS trim, use a 2x2 block of wood aligned to only the trim so that the force is transferred only to the trim and not to the painted surface.

Good luck Sam. Keep in mind that EVERY restored car will have some little area where there was a "whoops". It's all part of doing it yourself.

Very true. I earned mine installing my window regulators. I chipped the top leading, interior edge of the door. Had to do a touch up. Which I notice. Everytime I drive the car. :rp

Not when you're driving the car

Sorry to hear of this Sam. I will though warn my glass guy to keep his hammers in the tool box.

Well, there are several Dent Wizard locations here in Virginia Beach. Once I get the car on the road, I'll take it to them to fix.

I'm just glad I'm the one who did this and not somebody else, the wife, or the kids.

So the new paint is blemished, we all knew it was going to happen, time to move on, finish the car, and enjoy it.
