that show on History channel called pawn Stars??? About 6-8 weeks ago a guy came in wanting to sell a shelby cobra frame/body. He said he got it as he was removing items from a garage, a cleanup job for which he was being paid. So he realizes this may be a big score. and has the Pawn guys check it out for authenticity. Their expert concludes it is indeeed real..{holy S**t], the way is was deemed real was by a small stamp in the front of the frame somewhere, a tiny csx ****. Thiswas all they said was needed. Is this true?? would that qualify as proff of a real deal???Seemed it might be pretty easy to reproduce that stamp??? Any opinions????Thanks, Lenny

I saw that episode and it was a real Cobra, albeit it was a new one, not one the original cars. The car should've had a data tag riveted on the body underhood also. If you noticed the complete VIN on the chassis was blurred out so you couldn't read the last 4 digits.
That is indeed all that is needed aside from a legit title. Shelby Mustangs have the same problem with fake cars floating around with reproduced VIN plates with bogus numbers stamped on them. It's relatively easy to make a fake Cobra or Shelby, but then you are flirting with the law and charges of fraud.

It was funny, in the show, they showed where they looked, but not the actual number. The car was one of the continuation cars and not an "original". While still valuable, and a neat find, it was not worth as much as an original. If you google this I believe one website mentioned the Shebly vin stamp.

I remember the car as being proven to be a real original...It was valued at 60,000, and the pawn shop bought it for 30,000. they put alot into it, IIRC the completed value was 110,000. A continuation cobra doesn't bring that kind of money, does it??????

A well done aluminum continuation Cobra will bring that kind of money. If it were an original Cobra as they tried to make the viewer believe, it would fetch 600K or more.

On one of their Christmas episodes it said they had sold it. I thought they sold it for $130,000 or they made $30,000 off of it. The episode is fuzzy in my mind so don't take this as gospel.
