Anyone want an R code?

One of my fondest mustang memories was seeing one of these 68.5 CJ fastbacks sell at a Kruse auction my Dad took me to every year. It was probably around 1985, I bought my Mach one year later. It was MINT and sold for 13.9K, acapulco blue 4speed. Those were the days!!!

Is it worth what he is asking???[Subjective, I know, but I'm curious....]Looks to be pretty original.......

I don't think so. It would have to be a restored car to bring that much cash.

Anyone know the numbers on 68.5 R code production?

I worked with a guy who's dad bought one new. He also walked into the local Ford dealership and bought a 427 for it that he still had in the crate last I talked to him.

221 hardtops, 2097 fastbacks, and 552 'verts. Split roughly half/half of 4-speeds and C6s.

You have included Shelby production in some of those numbers.

Mustang only production was 221 coupes, 34 convertibles and 1044 fastbacks.

There's a guy on the fomoco forums that's restoring one right now, and has done work on another one in the past (two in the same garage!). He's a guru on them and he thinks it's worth just about asking price.
