Anyone looking a 67 coupe?

Disclamer: I have nothing to do with selling this car, I just came across it this morning and thought someone might be interested. If I need to post this somewhere else, let me know.

While on patrol this morning, I came across a red 67 coupe with California plates sitting at the Firestone in Downtown. I stopped by just to check it out. Peaked my head in the door and asked the manager if it belonged to a customer or someone who works there. Said it was his Father-in-Law's car. Asked if he minded if I looked at it. He said no problem and walked out with me. Then he goes on to tell me its actually for sale, they just haven't put the sign on it. Told him I had more than enough to do with my 66. **Warning, none of what follows has been verified*** Goes on to say his FIL bought it new and they just brought it to NC for the son-in-law to get it running good again so they can sell, has original 289, original black interior, and said it was originally a red car (Data Plate says different). I did a quick check of the car (best I could do in uniform) and the car looks to be solid. Guy says his mechanic has gone through and cleaned all the fuel line, replaced the carb with a 4 bbl, and redone all the brakes (4 drum). Asking $5k for it, but I'm sure he'd go a little lower. I snapped a couple pics with my phone. I have the guys info if anyone wants it. Here are some pics and the info I got off decoding the VIN:

[smg id=3647]
[smg id=3648]
[smg id=3646]

Just like SWMBOs first car. I wish I had $5k sitting idle! I would snap it up to drive when the weather is good. SWMBO would love it. She already has a 67, but it is manual steering and she wants power. I guess I have to spend the money to convert it. I do have many of the parts for it.

I'm sure you meant data plate, as San Jose cars didn't have buck tags. Did the data plate vin match the fender apron vin?

That date code looks far too early for a '67, the Production Guide says production started late August in SJ. Repro data plate?

That is indeed what I meant (corrected above). Sorry, I thought the terms were interchangable. What is the difference between the two?

I did look at the fender apron, but I can't say as I made sure they matched. I'd be happy to go back and look if someone is interested. The data plate was painted over the body color so I wouldn't think it was a repro, but who knows.

Well, I can't afford another car right now.

The buck tag is the one found screwed to the radiator support or rear fender apron of Metuchen and some Dearborn cars from what I understand. It's only found on a few 69's from San Jose.
