WITH video evidence :)

Process started last night. I pulled the plugs and shot some PB Blaster in each sparkplug hole. This was my brother's idea. He was scared of me having a stuck ring, so I decided to give it a try. I left them to soak over night, and this morning changed the oil with Valvoline 20w-50 VR1, replaced the coolant, and primed the oil.

Took a few shots of gas down the throat of the carb to get it to stay lit, but it finally lit up and ran for several minutes. Still sounds as good as it did when I put the car up last. Hopefully this motor will last me for a while. It's nothing special, and will need to be replaced with something a little more agressive later, but I need this motor to last me a while.

Anyway, here is the video evidence!

First Fire

Thanks to Pete and Dave for some last minute advice!

This really has me motivated now! I just HAVE to get my front brakes squared away, and get all the suspension parts changed (have most of the stuff on the shelf waiting to go on) and I'll have a POS driver! WOOT!

Congrats Steve. Getting it to run again is quite the accomplishment, and maybe a motivator to get it back on the road soon. I just hope you didn't get any grease on that nice shirt! Good job!

You already know how this goes...lol. Bigger cam/7K rpm's/larger intake/bigger carb...on and on...might as well give in now and go ahead and find a 5.0 HO or 347 to stuff in there... :vic

Nice video Steve. I'm guessing that the smoke should clear up quite a bit after it's run some more.

.... and....

Can you hike those pants up a bit for the next video? Seeing your butt crack once was enough for me.

Yeah the smoke was cooking off some crap I got on the headers, like the PB Blaster and stuff.

huh. I might have to re-edit that video :shy

Nice job Steve, you're ahead of me there, hey, I was hooked on crack, where'd it go?
Please put a fan at the back of the garage or hook some drain hose to the exh. next time, those fumes can cause damage pretty quick.
Big push, wish mine was running.

yeah, I won't make the mistake of running it like that in the garage again. Let's just say I had to air the house out :sur

Must really suck having to open the windows this time of year. It really looked cold there!

Way to go Steve :pbj I'm very happy I came in on the edited video!

Awesome Steve! Way to go.

pretty cool! who was your helper cranking it over?

And I do believe he was using a remote starter switch if I am not mistaken...

Thanks for all the accolades, guys. And the head's up about the :bart :craz

You are correct. Bought the stupid thing 15 years ago and never used it before today. I knew I'd need it one day!
