Since no one would believe it without pics.....

I added 11 ga steel where the Autopower cage bolts to the floor.

Front (both sides)

Rear

and finally added the HD Lakewood safety hoop in place of the cheesy stock type POS.

Just need to bolt the cage back in, replace the carpet and seats, then let it sit for another 3 months :cry

Mark, i see you placed the safety loop at the half-way point. i've seen people put it up front or out back. i think putting 2 loops front and back is the best...

If I put it up front, it would interfere with the X pipe, it's still forward of the seat belt mounts and will work for a front or rear failure (highly unlikely since I don't launch it). I was going to put it front and leave the other one in, just didn't work that way with the exhaust pipes.

I think he meant put them back in, they had to come out to weld in the new steel.

Yeah, what Rick said.

Got the carpet, rear panel, cage and belts back in, but I swear it was like the car just wanted to fight with me today. I think I did every step AT LEAST twice!

Biotch

If I need to gut the interior ever again, I'll sell the car :bird (that is directed to the car)

Putting the interior back in was the easy part when I did the floor pans and one toe board.

The easy part minus when I sliced my finger while trimming the carpet. I was working one side and my buddy was working the other. I put the razor down to use both hands to adjust the carpet then picked it back up to start cutting again. The problem was I (like a dumb butt) picked the razor back up completely backwards. In that direction it doesn't cut carpet at all but it sure does a nice job at cutting fingers. Ended up having to super glue that cut closed a day or two later.
