A Mustang and friendship story

Don't know if this belongs in this category but here is a story I'd like to share...
1998, Fort Worth, TX. I had just finished a 1966 Mustang/Shelby convertible clone project (pictures in my gallery) and entered the North Texas Mustang Club's Yellow Rose indoor show. Setting up close to me was a beautiful 1966 GT350H owned by a man named Joe. He came over and welcomed me and complemented my car. He later returned and handed me a wood shifter handle for the automatic. He told me it was an extra he had and thought it would look good on my car. I thanked him and that day a friendship was formed. I explained to Joe I would be moving within the next couple of months to Phoenix. We stayed in touch over the next few years. Then in late 2003, I had the opportunity to buy my own Hertz car. I sold my convertible and my 2003 Mach 1 to make it happen. Forward to 2005. My family moved back to North Texas, and Joe and I got together with our cars. By the way, we live just a few miles apart. I don't know why we never discussed it before, but that day we realized that our cars are 5 Shelby numbers apart and only 2 on the Ford VIN. Invoices and shipping document show our cars were sent east together. Mine ended up in NY and his in FL. Now after all these years they are reunited again since leaving Shelby American in California. Joe and I do car stuff often and park the cars together. People are always surprised to see two Hertz cars together, especially with the close serial numbers. I posted a couple of pictures in my gallery of the two together. Did I mention Joe's has a Paxton?

Nice cars and nice story!

Thanks for leaving out the parts about the long moonlit walks on the beach that you and Joe take. Seriously, great cars and great story. You did not mention the sequential license plates. It is amazing to see them together in person, even though joes is nicer...

I am glad to know both of you guys!

Hoping to see you both and those fine cars this next Saturday morning at Cars & Coffee...
