My job took to to the desert today, that is the Palm Springs area working at a major chain grocery store. They all had their flags flying at half-staff. :thu A slight majority of the businesses that I drove by also had their flags at half-staff. What bothered me was the 2 that did have the United States at half-staff but did not bother to lower the state and corporate flags. You know 3 poles, US flag in the middle and the state and corporate on either side. One of those useless things that I learned in the boy scouts that the US flag is Always suppose to be the highest one. :rant

Etiquette for the flag is the Stars & Stripes is suppose to be the highest one if on the same halyard. If a State flag is on another pole, it can be flown the same height as the Stars & Stripes, but the Stars & Stripes should be larger and on the right (viewers left). Stars & Stripes should never be flown lower than any other flag except I think there's an exception to that rule when at sea. Something to do with the Navy and church.
