'65 Glovebox Instrument Panel?

Has anyone tried using a spare glove box door as an instrument panel? I mean to mount round gauges in. Something similar to the G.T.350R model panels, but better looking. I know you can buy them, but I like to do things myself. I haven't tried it, but since the frame-work of the glove box and the instrument panel as similar in design, it got me thinking.

If you are saying to mount gauges in a glove box door, my concern is having to look way over at the glove box to view a gauge. How long will you last do this? I also guess it really depends on which gauges you are considering.

No, I mean use a spare glove box door to build an instrument panel. It would then be mounted in the same place as the instrument panel.

What about those dual dash speakers? Think you could make a decent sound system using those and the rear speakers you linked to? I'm trying to keep my interior looking kind of retro as much as I can, so I'd rather not have exposed speakers in the kick panels if possible.

Uh.....let's keep the stereo and speakers subject going in your other post.

Ah, mount a glove box door where the regular instrumentation bezel resides? Hmmmm, very interesting.
