Re: Buying A TKO 600

Congratulations. Gotta love it.

CALIFORNIA, making dreams come true, one dream at a time.

Re: Buying A TKO 600

I have a TKO600 from when they first came out to handle a 408W with 520ft lbs tq.

The OD is a blessing on the highway with the 3.73s and 25" tire I have. It's geared nicely. Winding out 4th on a road course straights is about 125MPH, which is more than enough without a roll bar.

Its not perfect, though. I did have to cut my tunnel to get the right pitch, 3rd gear is getting noisy unless I rest my hand on the shifter, and when winding it out at the dragstrip over 6300RPMs, it can block out 2nd and 3rd gear. Supposedly they know about this but are not honoring the warranty. I called and spoke to the tech line, and they sent me a set of shims for free that "might" address the problem. I haven't installed it yet.

Re: Buying A TKO 600

As I get more miles on my TKO600 the 2nd/3rd gear notchiness seems to be going away.

I don't race the car so maybe it is just my driving getting better :)

That price for the TKO is a great price. I think you will like the tranny. It is like a toploader with an overdrive. A big, heavy mutha.
