It just never ends...

That's what I would think except I have run my Holley for years on pump gas with ethanol and it's never done that.

I remember the 1957 Chrysler New Yorker that had a 413 'Golden Lion' engine in it. The Carter AFB carb's accel pump was leather

yeah, I'm sure ethanol is a factor but this carb is new and only been in use since last summer. Less than a year.

They are Holley brand, not cheap aftermarket stuff.
These days you can never count on anything being quality just because of the brand. Very possible they import that gasket. I have no idea about Holley, just speaking in general. I should also add that just because something is made in China doesn't mean it's bad either. Hope I cleared things up for ya! lol

As usual, concise and to the point. I'm sure everyone feels smarter now after reading your dissertation.

is he running E85?
no, just the 10% stuff. He typically buys his gas at a Shell station here in town. The car pretty much just runs between home ans school which is 30 miles one way ans then to work which is in town only a couple miles. So he is buying gas pretty much always the same place. Not sure that it matters...

IMG_7730.JPG Here is s pic of some of the blue gasket costing that is coming off and clogging the carb. this is just what was left after we pulled the gasket off but the float bowl area was full of this blue stuff. Some apparently got in the needle and seat and caused the car to flood out.
