Everyone remember the 727hp Mustang for under $40k??

My supervisor at work (a Camaro guy) sent me the link yesterday. I was thinking all afternoon about how great it would be to get a new(er) Mustang convertible and install this performance package. Horsepower like a Shelby for half price !! And it wouldn't LOOK like a Shelby . . . talk about a sleeper !!

The loss of the factory warranty kills it for me. Maybe if the dealership offered a special warranty through them?

If you (or any customer) performed this mod yourself and did it successfully you would also void the factory warrantee. Many people don't realize this fact that unless there has been some vetting of the product by the factory many drivetrain mods void the powertrain warrantee. Since this a mod package offered by a dealer I am sure they have done their own testing but without factory support its a void event. An owner could take their car in for this mod after the powertrain warrantee has expired.

Anecdotal but likely relevant. Back when I had my '02 Roush (full factory warranty) and upgraded it myself by installing a Kenne Bell supercharger by all accounts I voided the warranty. BUT...I got full Ford warranty on the transmission TWICE when it happened to break a few parts ;). I'm sure it helped that I took it to the same dealer where I bought it. The dealer is the front line point of contact for warranty work. A Ford rep does not always have to get involved on site so I'm sure the dealer behind this mustang might be willing to help out a customer should warranty work need done.

Hopefully. I had a Ranger a long while back that I lowered on air ride, the engine blew and the dealership did everything they could not to replace it. Heck, they even got an SVT engineer out to look at it and verify the engine was stock. SO that experience leaves me skeptical.

In the end I did get a new engine.

I think it would be case by case specific. I know my dealer would do everything possibly to make it right for me. But I reward him by purchasing all of my vehicles from him for many years building a strong relationship.
