Cancer Sucks!

Saw the doc again today and we started back on chemo (round 7). Start off light and progressively take more pills. Looks like 3-5 more months and then we'll see what happens. My blood numbers today were up a little and the CEA number was 1.3 Seems to be hovering right around a 1 over the last few months (good thing).

Start going to the gym tomorrow to try and regain some muscle. Sure would like to get rid of the baggy skin suit I seem to be wearing!

Lots of ice cream can help with that baggy skin suit....so would beer, but the doctor might frown on that.

Saw the oncologist today. They did the blood work and found everything to be getting a little better than the last visit. CEA marker is still stable (1.3 down from 1.4). My platelets are still hovering in the mid 70K mark so still no IV poison, just the pill poison! At least I'll still be able to drink and eat cold foods for another 3 weeks.

The Doc did say I was "doing great" and said I can pretty much do anything (within reason) that I want to do. Still no racing or skydiving though. It was all good news and we'll take that any day!

It was a strange way to spend my birthday, but I DID get a breadmaker and all the fixins, so I have that going for me o_O I'll keep exercising and building back some of the lost muscle and stamina. I'm gonna need it to keep off the tonnage from the bread.

Congrat's and Happy Birthday Butt Head !! ( Oh and you know that you found a bread maker a LONG time ago )

Well done, glad to hear you are getting better. Soon enough, you'll be chasing down PT Cruisers at the track.

Last day of drugs for this round is today. For some strange reason I feel really...really good! My strength (such as it is) is slowing getter better, my stamina is better (start to crash around 3pm though) and no ill side effects from the drugs so far. I get a week off and then CT scans and more chemo next Wednesday. People I see even say I'm looking good. Must be blind...never heard those words before. I've managed to gain back 20 lbs since the last surgery and no longer feel like I'm wearing a skin suit.

I'm headed down to Topeka to pick up the new (finished) race motor. I hope nothing happens this time to stop me from going.

I hope you don't stop going - otherwise you'll swell up and have to go back to the hospital for a catheter!
