1965 mirror StangFix

At some point in time my dad found another mirror for the convertible. I am not going to install it, but I want to use it for parking. The thought is to glue some magnets to underside so it will attach to the passenger door. This mirror is useless now as it will not hold a position. I know the 4 inch round glass will not come off in one piece. I will get a replacement, maybe even a convex mirror.
Is there a repair for this issue? It has Scott Drake stamped on it. It is sloppy at the ball and mirror backing point.

I've just replaced them in the past. If you are going to stick it on, park and remove it, you could put it where you want it and JBweld it.
