VOTING Day is Tomorrow

So while reading across all the "news" sites today, on CNN I found a video asking "Why is it so hard to vote in the U.S.".

    https://www.cnn.com/videos/politics/2018/10/30/voting-online-us-america-orig.cnn

I watched it simply to see why it claimed voting to be difficult. The stupidity I saw was ridiculous. Here were the key points.

    1. It's on a Tuesday (as it has been now for over 170 years)
    2. People typically have to register on their own to vote
    3. Person's have to sometimes go in person to cast their ballots
    4. You can't vote online

I'm not making this shit up. This is supposed to be unfairly difficult for persons that want a say in our country. To have to go get a registration form, fill it out and mail it in. Then to find a few minutes sometime on Tuesday either before or after work. Maybe during a lunch break. I have personally worked at companies that not only allow but encourage you to leave early or come in late to vote. And let's not forget, elections are held every two and/or four years depending on the election. That one is really important to remember when people talk about how difficult it is for poor persons, etc. to get IDs or to register etc. They have YEARS to find the time to get it done. To find that hour or less it would take. Or even that $10 for an ID in those remarkably rare jurisdictions that actually require you to prove who you are to conduct the most important act a citizen can perform.

This shit infuriates me to no end. People who can't be bothered to do such basic things have no business voting in the first place. If they fail at this mouth breathing level shit does anyone think they even have a clue about who or what they might be casting a vote to affect? If you view our voting population on a scale from barely cognizant to fully informed intellectual it should scare you just how bottom heavy that graphic would appear. We have this discussion nearly every election cycle and it never fails to amaze me that persons here I view as intelligent (Randy) always come back with responses that support the "every person's vote should count" position. That might have been passable back when the idiots were the minority but things have rapidly changed. At least by making them leave their couch once or even twice to earn the opportunity to vote we cold lessen the damage they can cause on an election day.

I can register online and vote via mail. It’s awesome. No need for me to be near all the knuckle draggers!

I get to go through the ballot and review every person and question on it.

What the fuck is hard about that, I’ll never understand.

    Here’s my prediction:

If the Repubs keep both houses
1 - The righties get up tomorrow morning and go to work.
2 - The lefties go completely bonkers, streets will be littered with trash and bodies. Mass hysteria will ensue and the news media will talk about the coming apocalypse.

If the Dems take one or both houses
1 - The righties get up tomorrow morning and go to work.
2 - The lefties go completely bonkers, streets will be littered with trash and bodies. Mass hysteria will ensue and the news media will talk about how Trump will be impeached.

Well we did it again....California is leading the nation to hell. Elected Newsom as Governor. Not only is he Pelosi’s nephew, he makes our current Governor look like a right wing extremist.

Watch out...you are all soon to follow

At least I can count on nothing destructive happening in DC for two years. Neither house will work with each other, less than before.

    Maybe.

Not a surprise the House moved to the Democrats. Almost always the case of a switch in the Midterm election. Thankful the Senate stayed put. Will keep the insanity in check.

What really disappointed me (scares the shit out of me) is WHY the voting went as it did. Obviously, all the staunch (redneck) Trump voting base went out and blindly voted as directed. As did the loons on the Left. Those two blocks basically cancel each other out. The vote that made the difference in the House races were all the new voters, IMHO. Primarily the young voters. The evidence is in the huge volume of voters and the winners in lots of cases. A literal horde of women were elected. There is now an openly gay governor. Multiple Muslim reps. And the list of what used to be unelectable now hold offices. Brooklyn elected the idiot (and I call her that based on the multitude of mind-numbingly stupid comments she makes) socialist to a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. This new wave of voters has the very real opportunity to forever change the course of this country.

The Dems succeeded by getting literally millions of typically non-present persons to the polls. The chants of defeating Trump at all costs will carry a VERY HEAVY cost in the end, I'm afraid. Let's hope these young voters pay attention to what their elected persons actually do (or don't do which will be largely the case) and next voting cycle put the effort into researching the candidates and issues and casting informed ballots. I don't care who they vote for so long as they do their homework instead of getting on the Beto type bandwagons again because some Hollyweirdo tells them to.

This country needs to get past our labeled camps and return to an EDUCATED electorate that votes accordingly. Personally, I don't think that can happen anytime soon and that is a very scary place to be.

And what’s so bad is that finding out that information is so damn simple. It takes only a few minutes to research each person and then make an informed decision.

Apparently they can count well enough to realize when the Democrat doesn't have enough votes to win. That's when they start "finding" all kinds of additional ballot caches. Can you just imagine...

Pretty sure any credibility was lost long before. I would still like to hear your opinion on voting rights/requirements that would put even a modest onus on effort from those wishing to vote in our country now. In this age when minority ranks are exploding, youth are voting in HUGE numbers and the typical voter knowledge of the candidates, the issues and the basic government processes/responsibilities are certainly at all time low levels. In other words, with more idiots than intellectuals voting how can things not go terribly wrong? Wouldn't some simple "checks" be beneficial to all in the end? I mean how far are we from Kanye or Kim mounting a campaign to get their name on the ballot and quite possibly winning?

Ah, pretty soon it'll just be a voting app so nobody has to work to hard to vote. They can vote while chasing Pokemon across a busy highway.
