Slickest engine compartment ever at Mesquite Nationals

This is a pic of the engine compartment of a car at the Nationals this weekend. It is called Delta Heat and is the slickest engine compartment I have ever seen. Notice the lack seams and bolts on the fenders. It is all weldied in one piece. The aluminum radiator cover plate was a work of art. This car is almost as nice as Colemans FB.

That does look like a beauty. I just hope he never has to replace a fender. that thing would be EXPENSIVE to fix.

That car was incredible. One thing I thought was brilliant was the use of the turn signals on the inside of the headlight buckets here the "Eleanors" have those marker lights. You can see them in one of Jerry's pics.

As long as no one hits it while it is the trailer or sitiing at a car show if should be fine..

While you have to admire the effort and skill it took to finish it like that (or the size of the check written!), to me, it takes away from the "muscle" look of the car. It looks more like a piece of art than a bad ass ride. Just an opinion.

Hell yeah. Chicks dig bolts - just like they dig scars.

HAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!

I understand the 'art' of it...and the 'effort' to design and build but air intakes next to the exhaust headers? Really? It looked to be a clean sheet for design and build....why not make a cold air source? :wtf

Looks like the headlight buckets and the piece between the grille and valance are all welded to the fender as well. I wonder how body flex and expansion will affect that car?

On a separate topic, whats up with the spark plug wires on the cap all being magically in a row. For example, cylinders 1-4 are all in a row on the cap and then the other side of the cap is 5-8 all in a row. That isn't a normal firing order unless it doesn't use a standard rotor under the cap.

I don't think this one will see much, if any, real road time. Nice catch on the plug wires. I'm guessing they are arranged that way to look "clean" for the show as I have never seen a distributor system that would allow that configuration. If there is one, I want it.

I had just installed custom plug wires and looms the other day and scratched my head trying to find the cleanest way of routing the wires on the cap, so I've been looking at other engine bays for ideas....thus came my question here. Yeah thats all I can think of in that its all for show. They may reroute them correctly when the car is loaded onto the trailer. Its a good theft deterrent though!!!

I saw it drive in so I know it runs.

Doesn't someone make a cap that allows you to arrange the wires that way?

I recall some older Toyotas that had caps where the wires were lined up nice and neat on top of the cap and were rerouted to the correct firing order when you looked inside.

Yep, me too. Accel makes one for the Chevy HEI as well (called a "corrected" cap), but nuttin for the fords that I see
