Replacement door glass to eliminate vent windows? 65-66

Does anyone make replacement door glass that eliminates the whole vent window for the 65-66 mustangs? I thought I read about it somewhere a while back but cant find anything on it. Considering the prices of replating the vent windows for my 65 restomod, would be another option if available.

Just left a message with company, The girl on phone seems to think they make them for 65s. Aren't the frames the same for 65-68? Would just be a different glass.

I would think they would interchange.
Having driven my car in some pretty hot climates without AC, I must say the vent windows do a great job of keeping air flow into the cabin. I rather like them myself.

If they did, the company would surely market them as being for 65-68. right? I'm with you on wing windows being great for air flow. Plus, to me at least, the car looks great with them and just wrong without. There are some Youtube videos of these being installed if anyone is interested. The other thing I hadn't thought of until watching the video is the question of power windows. Part of the kit is new inner mechanisms to replace the original so one would have to design their own means to add a motor.

9 bills to lose the wing and have to crank manually doesn't do it for me.

Vent windows are nice. Wish the new cars had them. For the price they want....they should supply someone to operate them for me when needed if not a power option.

now for a different point of view.....my son's car does not have any glass at all. So I have been pricing buying all new door windows, regulators, tracks, etc. The vent windows will have to be used ones that get rechromed due to the poor quality repop ones. Once you add it all up, $900 doesn't seem like that bad of a deal. We have gone back and forth with what we like, and if the 65 version is not available by the time we get to that point, then our decision will be easy.

my two cents!

seems to me back in the day, that I put a 67 fastback door glass into a 65 door. I don't recall the details however, it was 20 years ago...

Maybe the glass is the same and it is the mechanism that is different? Mounting position or such, maybe?

you are probably right about that... I don't recall but I think all I swapped was the glass and not the mechanism and mounting stuff.

That may have worked, but I think if you go the otherway around it probably won't work... I seem to recall purchasing a used piece of the stainless frame for my 68 thinking they were all the same, but the one I got was about an inch shorter on the back edge. I'm assuming it came of of a 65/6. I ended up having to get another one off of another 67/8.

FYI, another option for vent frames is buying them from http://www.mustangcorral.com/... They have originals replated and keep them in stock so all's you need to do is purchase them from them and send your originals back in as cores. I hear it's hit or miss in terms of quality, but the set I got look much better than what I had to start with. Most if not all of the pits are smoothed out and the small V line at the bottom front of the frame is sometimes smoothed out but the chrome looks pretty good... If your just doing a nice driver then for $225, it seemed like a fair deal for me considering local platers were quoting upwards of $400 to plate mine. Most folks don't notice the washed out details on mine until I point them out... unless you are doing a top notch concourse restoration, then these are a decent option IMO...

My car has been stripped for a while and I kinda like the completely open look with no frames. In the end of the last installation video for the 67 Mustang, they say the 65-66 coupe version will be released with matching quarter windows. I'm sure that will cost a little more..... :hide Been getting quotes on replating the vents and quarter frames and its looking at close to $1000 for all 4. Just looking at more options.

My thoughts exactly. It's a shame automakers eliminated the vent windows.
