Question for the Texas folks.

My mother is going to be in San Marcos tx in a couple weeks. My oldest brother is taking her along on their family vacation for her 60th birthday . He will be playing golf most of the time so my mom and his wide and kids will seeing the sights.

What are the best things to do or see around that area? They are flying into Austin then heading to San Marcos.

Any suggestions?

Oh my husband went to college San Marcos! I'll have to ask him what cool things are out there that I can't think of.

A little bit of driving....

Alamo ( as well as lots of other historic stuff)... Riverwalk.. Sea World .. Six Flags... in San Antonio

New Braunsfel / Gruene is pretty close and some neat things out there... like Texas oldest dance hall, Gruene Hall! Of course that may not be their cup of tea and way too cold to go tubing down the river. Downtown is pretty cute. Not huge, but it has picture potential. Pretty scenery along the River.

Austin itself ... never been but the capital of Texas I'm sure has some cool stuff. Like go see the tower at UT where the sniper shot people. :shrug I keep hearing about 6th Street night life.. again probably not for them. lol

I can't remember the kids exact ages. I haven't seen them in about 5 years, but the oldest is 18. The other 2 (twins) are 16 now I think.
