After see these at the Steck site and in the Door Zipper video

It looked like it wouldn't work on a vintage type door as they are thicker than a newer door. So I decided to build my own out of a cheap pair of Vice Grip style welding clamps from Harbor Freight. Thought they came out good and will make it through the skinning process. Also decided to use the Stick welder instead of the mig.

Stick welding on 19 gauge sheet metal? Unless you have a TIG set-up, what are you thinking?????

I hope you are planning on punching holes in the skin and plug welding it. we just got a car in that the customer did it himself, all he did was bend it over a put a ugly weld on it. I always install the door first and get my alignment, then tack weld it and remove it to finish it. There is a lot of flex in a door and if you just weld it up without hanging the door it won't fit.

I'm glad to see you haven't changed. Used the stick to weld together the clamp set-up. I do have 1/16th 7018 rod and an Eastwood stitch welder if I wanted to use the arc. I have done 19 gauge with stick before I got the mig set-up,so it would be no problem.
