Overdrive is awesome!!

Craig and I drove down to visit KBMWRS, which is about 50 miles from my house.

The whole way there we drove around 70 which put the RPM dead on at 3000. Higher than I would like for sure.

Hooked up the Gear Vendors final wiring tonight and just go back from a test drive, 70 hits 2250 and 65 MPH is about 2000.

Very nice!!!! At the price of gas I should save quite a bit on the drive to Knotts!

Sucks but I have to go out of town for work this week so I am not going to get much more time to button things up but it should be a comfortable enough drive down.

Very nice! I should be able to drive mine tonight (Monday), after installing the driveshaft. I'm SOOO looking forward to it.

Justin,
Very good news. It was fun riding in the silver beast yesterday. Perfect weather and the car ran great.

Yes it was fun. Thanks again for all of your help!!

Overdrive is nice, but being a young guy, I never experienced the fun of a 4 speed toploader behind a big V8, which is why I planned the setup listed in my signature.

Justin has a big V8, 4speed toploader, and an aftermarket overdrive unit. You can have your cake and eat it too sometimes.

Overdrive was awesome and so was night driving last night.

Adjusted headlights Put the new rear plates and stickers on. Put the license plate light on.

Headlight high switch installed, shifter bezel and boot installed. What a difference! Twice as quiet at least and no hot air as shown in the video. Bezel looks awesome, brushed billet. The bolts were a pain though, even tapping the holes didn't help. I just grabbed a bigger wrench and forced them in since that is the bezel I plan to run for a while.

For the gearvendors they say 28% I saw a 25% reduction. Very happy with that.

Great news Justin. It was great to see and hear it on the road.

As far as rain proofing for Friday.....Well you have the shifter hole blocked off now....just plug up any firewall holes and you should be good.

Justin I had the gear vendors on an 88 f250 and they allowed me to keep my diesel at low rpm on the highway and still take advantage of the 4:11 gears off road.

Good choice.

Have fun with 8 gears. And 2 reverse gears.

I was not aware of the overdrive unit. That is awesome. I will research it tonight. My name is also Justin, so don't confuse us when I also buy the overdrive unit.

You won't see a lot of them because they are expensive. Since I had a good 4 speed and the 390/ five speed route can be very tough I went for it.

So far love it. Supposedly it's indestructible rated at triple my horsepower.

Did it bolt right in with no mods? I've planned to get one for my car.

They fit where the tail shaft is. Really pretty cool. The company is called gear vendor and is in El cajon CA.

They were $2500 a couple years ago. Not sure what they ron now.

Mine held up very well under huge abuse and lots of tork.

Shortened tail shaft is right. Had to fabricate a bracket for the speedo adapter. It was a pretty easy swap with a few small gotchas but nothing too bad. The c clip for the speedo needed to be removed and instructions said it didn't. I'll try to post some pics from when I did the install of the adapter.

Kinda like Jeff on his first drive down here for Knott's. His fastback was missing a few pieces. But the outside looked as awesome as it does now.
