Nylon fuel line help

Hey guys and gals,

I've got a delima.. the next phase of the project is to install the fuel lines for the fuel injection. I bought a nylon fuel line kit from Ron Morris which (hopefully) contains enough line to run both the supply and return lines.

What I'm struggling with is how to get it connected to the fuel tank, which has -6AN connectors on both the supply and return lines that come out of the top of the gas tank in the trunk. In the pic below, you can see where the supply and return fittings screw in in the center of the tank (covered with green tape):

My thought is to run braided lines with AN fittings from the tank and out the trunk floor on the passengers side. Then transition to the nylon lines once I'm outside the truck and then up to the engine.

My question is how to I transition from AN fittings to nylon? I have no clue.

Thanks in advance,
-Shannon

Is that the intank fuel pump? If so, why does it have two fittings? Is one a vent supply?

I'm guessing one is a vent.

My setup is a little similar. I have -AN fittings going to the fuel hose, then transitioning to a hard line to the mechanical fuel pump.

I think I have pics of the fuel cell at my CarDomain site.

Yes, it's an in-tank pump with internal baffling. One supply line and the other a return line.

Although now I'm really confused: I tried to mock up the tank connections and the -6AN fitting is way too small (I was told by the manufacturer that it's a -6AN fitting).. to further complicate things, a -8AN fitting is too big. I measured the diameter of the threaded hole and it's just slightly larger than .6 inches..like .61". Does that correspond to any AN or pipe fitting size? Maybe 3/8 NPT?

I'm going to call the vendor today.. maybe they know.

Probably 3/8 NPT, although it's .675" diameter. You'll need a 3/8 NPT to 6AN adapter. Why not just return the nylon line and run -6 braided line?

You're right. I just called the company and they said that all tanks BUT the Mustang tank has -6AN fittings.. the Mustang tank uses 3/8NPT.

Maybe I will run braided lines for the supply side as long as it doesn't cost much more.. The stuff from Ron Morris wasn't exactly cheap though.

I wouldn't run standard braided stainless hose that isn't rated for fuel the entire length. The vapors will leak out of it and it'll stink out your garage.

I know, I had a car in the shop this winter that would fill the air with fuel stink overnight.
