Noisy release bearing.

The clutch release bearing on my fastback is making an awful squealing noise when the pedal is depressed. Is it possible to lube these bearing?

You may try ro adjust it a bit one way or the other and see if that will stop it. I'm not sure they can be lubed. I may have one here in the garage if I can find, I'll take a look and report back.

I guess this is the one you are talking about. It seems to be sealed with a somewhat thick grease in it.

That looks like a good one. All the ones I've seen lately that are box store over the counter are part plastic. Me no like that.

Thanks, all...

It's a new bearing that went in a few hundred miles ago. Could it be from lack of use? If so, will it quiet down or will I need to replace it?

I'd replace it. I've had a throwout bearing explode on me. At that point you're replacing pretty much everything....
