So it is the end of an era here in Southern California, and well I guess a lot of other radio stations in the US of A.

I listened to them a little a few years ago, but the commercial breaks got to be so often that is was not worth it. I will assume to pay for their salary. But really I want to hear one of 2 things on the radio: Music or news and traffic updates.
So I say so what, enjoy your retirement.

I know that they had a big following and some people just love the morning radio shows. So anyone else here like those morning radio shows that try to entertain you with comedy and gags, or do you prefer music of your liking.
Oh my liking is what they now call classic rock, when I was growing up it was just Rock and Roll. :roll

Oh and those boys were so famous they even got a star on the Hollywood walk of fame. I have that picture somewhere, but I cannot find it right now. Couple of years ago when my Aunt came out for a visit we went to Hollyweird for an afternoon.

I listen to "bob and Tom" sometimes---they are broadcast nation wide I believe. Been around for years.

I hate the morning shows. So many commercials not enough music. I drove 40 minutes the other day without hearing one song.

If it is any clue we just saw Loverboy, Pat Benatar, and Journey in SLC.

I have started to listen to the alternative rock station. Some pretty good stuff and fewer commercials.

I loved M&B. Made me laugh in the morning. Going to miss them. 25 years is a pretty good run for a morning radio talk show. Especially with owner and format changes that plague radio.

A few weeks after Memorial Day, KFOG introduced the new morning show crew, after firing two of the guys who had been part of the "old" morning show. The change was, to put it mildly, not taken well by listeners. A few weeks later, they got rid of the offending replacement and brought in a new guy that at least is a long time Bay Area DJ. It's still not like it was, but it's better than Tony Longo aka "Twitch".

KFOG's morning show used to be known for good music and intelligent conversation. Management tried to change that.

The only morning show here has come and gone. The Rock 103 Morning Crew(Tim, Bev, and Bad Dog) ran for over 20 years amd was funny as all hell. The station canned Bev over budget cuts, Tim Spencer cut bait and left. No word why from him or the station. John "Bad Dog" McCormack lost his battle with leukemia, and passed away last year. He used to hold fundraisers for the Ronald McDonald House and worked with them for years. A legend around town. Even got a strip of Alabama Ave in Memphis named after him.

As of last year, Memphis no longer has any radio stations worth a damn. I have to listen to stations in Dallas or Denver to find anything to listen to. Seriously, it's all rap and country here, both I hate.

I can't listen to any of those morning shows, the 'big show', bob & tom and whatever other 'zoo crews' are on. They drove me to listen to NPR on my drive in to work and then I listen to rock on the way home. If I'm in a zone i put on classical. If I'm driving the wifes car with sirius then it's Howard.

+1, most current morning shows here are idiotic. At least NPR has no commercials and I learn something.

I tried M&B a few years ago and did not care for it. I was bummed when Adam Carola's show was cancelled when the home station changed formats to Spanish language.

Mark and Brian was syndicated out here for a little while. Then replaced with Bob and Tom. Their skits were funny: Brian's postal worker and 'hunt to kill, kill to hunt' redneck along with B&T's Mr Obvoius and Godzilla.

Too many commercials on both shows drove me away. Now I listen to local sports stations morning shows or my Ipod.

I used to listen to a few of the Buffalo stations when I moved up here but started listening to a lot of the stations out of Toronto,Most notable the alternate rock station. But only after 10am when the morning crew go off the air. Was never a fan of the "Morning Zoo" type morning show. The classic rock station around here has to learn that the smae Eric Clapton song played at the same time everyday for 20 years doesn't make it "Classic", Sucked back in the day,Sucks even harder now.

Stern rules!

...and will continue to rule until he retires. If I'm not listening to Sirius, I tune into local sports talk or the local PBS (commercial free) music station. kxt.org

+1. I've heard others and they are just crappy Stern wannabees. Just wish there were more live shows but even the reruns are better than the others.

You just reminded me of something. I was stationed in the middle of Louisiana back in the late 70's. Radio in that area was crap also.

A while back when stern was trying to compete with M&B I gave him a listen. He could be funny at times, but I got tired of howard this and howard that and what something meant to howard. How could an overpaid radio person really have any problems. I did see his movie, don't they have pills for small peepees. :nut

same here! I listen to my I-phone or CD's. I'd like SAT radio. I don't like morning talk shows, the news, commercials, etc.

I'm debating getting satellite. When I have to run calls, its usually a 4-6 round trip through the middle of nowhere. Cell and radio reception is awful. I'm sick of all the commercials too. A three hour program gets chopped by at least an hour of nothing but commercials.

I got tired of sat. because I listen to a couple stations and the cost just was not worth it. Been using other sources to see what works good for us. The pipes make a sweet music too. I have not heard a good morning show in years....most get repetitive over time.
