Looking for a 428?

Cat Spring ,TX ~ 15 min N of LSMP

428 Short Block 0.040 over, filled, ARP rod bolts, line-honed, square-decked, honed with torque plates, 100 - 120 passes since built. Crane 234/236 @ 0.050 (Fireball 296?) hyd cam, lifters still in place, TRW L2303N. Engine ran high 12's at 4400 lbs. Would idle at 800 rpm and provide for power brakes. Flexplate balanced to rotating assembly included. Some cosmetic rust due to storage. I'm pretty sure it has the Motor Sport timing chain. Motor was built circa 1999 and pulled circa 1999 0r 2000. A search through the old FE forum will reveal a bad season for several members.

Missing one freeze plug (see video)

Does not include pan, balancer, mounts or pulley.

The pic of the missing freeze plug confirms what he meant by "filled". It looks like something's been poured to partially fill the coolant passages. No thanks.

Can anyone explain why someone would fill the coolant passages? I know that was a drag racing motor, but I'm having a hard time imagining the advantage you'd get by filling the cooling passages with metal.

Nevermind, I found the HardBlock website where they explain it. Very interesting. Learning something new all the time.
