hooker headers

hi, i came across this add in craigslist: Long-tube Hooker Competition Headers for sale. Slightly used, but in very good condition. No leaks etc. Fits small block Ford... these were removed from a 1967 Mustang with a 351 windsor swap. Should fit 302, 347, 351, and more. These headers are $475 new, and are a steal at $100.....whatd ya think?

lol thanx. i should add i have a stock 302. im putting in a tcp manual rack. any fitment problems there?..also, my goal is to get a 351 within the next couple of yrs. so i would like to fix this 302 up with parts that are interchangeable. what do u look 4 when buying used headers? cracks? holes of course. how do u know if its not warped? straight edge? also sum1 else has sum unknown brand headers on here 4 120$. but ive notice they dont have the one piece flange. their seperate from one another..is that a good description?...seems like the one pieace would be alot stronger and less likely to warp. any thoughts?

Individual flanges help in some circumstances. When I'm buying used headers, I mainly want to know that there is no holes. The rest can be blasted and recoated. The flanges normally shouldn't warp.

thanx 4 the feedback. im looking at gaskets now. any brand better than another? i noticed ur avitar. you have the thrush exhaust? im thinkn of going with classic glass packs. but they seem to get bad reviews because of longevity. thoughts?

Sorry , but in my opinion , they will fit but they "hang " lower as headers for a 289/302.
The deck height of a 351W is higher so the top/bottom measurements of these headers are higher.
The collector sits lower beneath the car.IMO

I echo Bruno's comment....I've got Hooker Super Comps on my '67 big block and they have always been an issue on speed bumps, driveways, etc. They hang much lower than a tri-Y style header. If you have a lowered front end on your car, you will likely have similar issues. As far as tcp rack clearance, FPA headers (out of Seattle) says their Tri-Y for the big block will clear the tcp rack, don't know about any others.

I completely missed he had a 8.2 deck. The 351w headers will set about 1.25 inches lower, so that could cause issues for you.
