What's the little box underneath the starter solenoid on my 73 Mach 1?

possibly the voltage regulator? does it have a long flat connector on the bottom with alot of wires running into it?

Picture? Like Steve mentioned, voltage regulator, didnt they also have an MSD type ignition module?

The boss 302 I was working on had it's little blue box (voltage reg) under the solenoid.

voltage regulator: many aftermarket ones are silver cad plated, stock blue or black...

duraspark module that rick mentioned: these werent standard until 75, but might have been an upgrade done at one time.

Thanks everybody. I was confused for a minute. Started rewiring the front part of the Mach 1 this morning. It made it alot easier when I straightened all the wires out i needed zip tied them togethor where they couldnt get tangled as easy

The voltage regulator goes away if you upgrade your alternator to a modern one.
