Has anyone tried to upgrade their defroster??

I have the typical 3 speed defroster, it takes forever to for it to defrost the front window. There is no obstruction that is blocking the air going to the defroster. I use fogx and it kinda works but every time I am in my wife's car and seeing her defroster work so fast it makes me sad. :-(

I am just curious if someone figured it out.
 
I've never attempted to do anything on any of mine but by comparison there is not much velocity as compared to the newer systems. If you were to reduce the size of the outlet that would give the air both more velocity and concentration which should speed up the action. A better fix would be a higher volume fan but that is not really feasible without a complete redesign.
 
the newer vehicles use the a/c system to "dry" the air for the defroster (next time you are in the mrs' car with the defrost on, listen for the compressor to kick over). thats one reason they work so much better than the older systems...
 
What was just said plus the new systems from Classic and Vintage also use the A/C to help with defrost.
