I used the same urethane sealer I used everywhere else on the car.

Ford originally used a product very similar to strip caulk. You can buy strip caulk at oreillys, or you used to be able to anyway.

I dont use silicone I use the 3m black rope type sealer. It comes in a blue box and little snake like strips. HTH

I used plumbers putty tape. Come on a roll like tape. Just unroll it and set the tank. It worked very well for me. And it's still pliable after 4 years+
