Re: Druspark Advance Curve

Re: Druspark Advance Curve

There is a guy close to me that has the old sun dizzy machine. What part of the world are you in?

Re: Druspark Advance Curve

I found a junk 460 duraspark dizzy and took the weights from it and put it into mine. IIRC I used the 10L side. If you can't find a junk dizzy, you can weld like the links mention or buy a new 460 dizzy from Autozone and use all of the internals from it on your current dizzy (more expensive way of doing it). I didn't mess with the springs because mine was all in at 3000rpms with the stock springs, so I was happy with that.

Re: Druspark Advance Curve

Interesting,

I was reading up some yesterday about the 10L, 15L etc. breaker plates to use to make adjustments. I guess I will look around to see if I can find any kits, but it looks like the only kits are for springs.

Thanks for the links, good info.

Sluggo, I am in Maryland.

Not sure what they use. If you have your duraspark dizzy handy, you can peek in that hole with a flashlight and rotate the dizzy shaft until the numbers appear. See pic below for hole

From what I recall you can see the weight numbers through that hole, but check just in case. Then, run to Autozone and have them pull an 85 5.0L dizzy and check the number.

Good call, I will do that.

I found somewhere else today that there reman for and 85 GT had 10L and 15L, but the 10L was being used.

I will verify on mine though.

Make sure it also has an adjustable vacuum advance. The one I got from autozone did not. A bushing can also be used to correct the slot opening if you don't have access to a welder. The reincarnation site has a chart showing the slot opening vs degrees of mechanical advance.
