I met Doug (classicdoug) today. He was rescuing a 69 fastback that has been dismantled for 20 some odd years. This gem was just a couple miles from my house.

Nice solid car.

I also met the old and new owners today. I enjoyed hanging out with everyone. Michael, the new owner is going to join the board. He already has a sweet coupe that Doug built which I hope he will upload some pics of.

Requisite pics.....

Doug's rig. The paint on it is awesome.

The rescued....

Loaded up, That's Doug loading parts and James the P.O. in the pic...

Yikes! When I first read the title of the thread I thought it said "Dog rescues a pony after 20 year slumber"!!!!

Okay here's a sign for anyone now publicly seen with me..... :stu

Cool find DOUG! :thu

Thanks Sluggo for coming over and helping load this thing. It was great to finally meet you.

For those of you who haven't seen Suggo's 69 in person it is a VERY nice car. It has awesome paint, great door, hood, and trunk gaps, and very straight bodywork. It sounds awesome too! The seller of the 69 we picked up was definitely having second thoughts after seeing Sluggo's car.

Mike's 66 coupe that I painted is a show car and this one will be too. This 69 is getting a Ford crate 347 and 5 speed. He's planning on painting it a dark silver. We'll post pics as we go.

Sorry to bring back an old topic, but this is the conclusion to this story that started back in February. Here's some pics:

Michael picked up the car from me Friday and drove it almost 2 hours back to Houston. He said the only problem was trying to keep it under 80!

I did drive it home and it was great! It's very fast and handles extremely well. It got a lot of looks while on the road, we even had a coming home party for it last night! Tonight we'll have both cars ("66 Coupe and the '69 Fastback) at Niftee Fiftees in Spring, TX.

I've seen it in person and it is AMAZING looking and the pictures do not do the paint color justice at all. :wor

Looks awesome! Looks better than last time I saw it. Can't wait to see it.

Congrats Michael and :kneel to Doug.
