Craigslist Rant!

What is it with people on Craigslist? I've never had so many people waste my time. I've been trying to part out a car and sell off some good used tires to make room in the shop. I get emails everyday telling me how they really need a part and to call or email them ASAP, you get back with them and they either basically ask for it for nothing or they never needed it to begin with. I have a set of tires and rims that 4 people apparently desperately need but none of them can seem it get a ride over to get them. I spend at least 20 minutes a day dealing with jerk offs with very little to show for it. Last week, I took the time to pull the exterior door handle off the parts car because the doofus was on his way to get it.... Never showed. He must of called me 7 times beforehand telling me how needed that door handle and was on his way...

Then, last night I get this one.....

Ryan:

There is something about CL that does tend to bring the idiots out of the woodwork. It seems that reading comprehension is on the decline around here. In my experience, about 1/3 of the replies I get are from people with cognitive impairments.

For example, I was selling a used aftermarket universal Holley carb with the list number shown and the admonition: "Verify this fits your application before calling"

I get some guy texting me a series of questions about the condition of the carb, all of which i answer.

Then he comes back with " does it fit my Chevy 350?"

I reply, "if your intake manifold fits the standard Holley 600 cfm base and there is enough clearance between the intake and the underside of your hood, yes."

Never heard another peep.

Some might argue that the guy drives a Chevy, so what do you expect? I suspect that if this guy actually bought it, he would expect me to install it for him!!!!!!!

I sometimes think the only people worse than the Craigslist buyers are the sellers. I am amazed at the numbers who think they can get new, retail prices for older, used stuff. I've seen ads listed and re-listed again and again for stuff I made fair or even better offers on. I really like it when you find the exact same item listed just below an identical one for half the price. You would think that might get the guys attention to the fact he is way off on his price. Market value is a lost concept to some some.

One of the kids that was holding up the sale of the tires and rims I have actually asked if I would deliver them. Yeah, I'm gonna drive an hour one way to deliver.... He probably would've offer less money and say its all he had..

D/FW CL is like a swap meet, lots of overpriced junk that never sells or good stuff that sells fast. I find it amazing how many people out there can't spell and lack even 2nd grade grammar skills in their ads. The most common is posting something "for sell" or "need to sale".
