Carpet underlayment question....

So I have the underlayment kit from NPD with the grey material and tar like bottom, just installed it and it fits very well after a little trimming.

However the ACC carpet kit I have seems to have underlayment glued to the bottom of it.

Are there supposed to be two layers or is this a newer carpet that doesn't require the stock underlayment?

Thanks, please let me know if pictures would help or if this makes sense.

With the second skin all through out I am afraid I'll have to much padding under the carpet.

This was my thought as well. How thick is the Second Skin? I don't think you need the tar-like underlayment.

Justin, I have from bottom side up, 2nd skin damplifier Pro then 2nd skin's luxurly liner (which I believe is thicker than your underlayment) and then the carpet which has the jute material glued to the bottom side. The more insulation, sound deadening, etc you can stuff under the carpet, the quieter and not so hot the cabin will be. If you are installing a center console then the immediate area under the console should have the minimal amount.

No, you'll be fine with the three layers...that's basically what I've got in the S-code and it fits well.
