Boat Prop help

Now that the weather may be warming up a little early this year, I need to buy a new prop for my boat.
I can't keep making guests push the boat all the time. :steer :roll

I never really understood the pitch and size stuff. We have a 2007 Regal with a Volvo 4.3L V6.
It's not a huge boat. It is just short of 20'. We bought it new and it came with a four blade aluminum prop. 14.25x19.

We are not looking for top speed, maybe just a little quicker to plane.
Any suggestions? Or should I just keep with what the factory size was?

If you want to plane quicker get a 17 pitch. Perfect for sking also. The lower the pitch the more power you have getting it on a plane and the higher the pitch the more speed you have and slower to plane. I carry a 19 and 17. I think you would porpose to much with a 21. I use the 17 most of the time its a much smoother ride. Also keep in mind the lower the pitch the more gas you will use.

Always check your engine recommendations so you don't overspeed. Hope this helps.

Thanks. That's kind of what I was trying to figure out. The lake we go out on is pretty choppy. So max speed is not an issue. It's more about a smoother ride and getting her moving off of a start. It's not bad with the current prop. I was just figuring if I need to change it anyway I may try something different.
