Nice Day for a Cruise
« on: October, 28, 2010, 12:32:52 PM »
Got both cars out for a little cruise yesterday.  Weather was perfect for windows down cruizin.  So....I was driving the 65 and Carla was driving the 67 and I pull up to a light and engine putters off.  Yikes what the heck?  Anyways, glance at the gas gauge and oops, no gas!  After adding some to get to the station for a fill up, back on the road.  Here are a few pics of the "pit stop".  BTW, we had a great time and Carla got to put a few miles on the 67.  After driving a service truck all week, its nice to go back in time and do a little cruisin!

(Yes, I know the 65 sits a little high in the rear, I was hoping the mid eye springs would settle, but after a year they have not.  Probably gonna add a couple of spacers to lower it.)

Nice rides  :good

I'm jealous of the weather you had. We were lucky not to be blown into the next county yesterday!

I kind of dig the rake on the 65.

Today is really nice out!

Wish I had time for a cruise but I am half awake at work...I was up half the night with a sick kiddo last night.

As well you should!

But... do people look at you like you have 3 heads?
...like you just landed a flying saucer on the White House lawn?
...like they really want to say "You actually get in that thing & just drive it wherever?"

Well, I salute you. You and anybody else that just hops into one of these old hunks of iron and takes a cruise. Just because they can.

Yep....all kinds of looks. The best ones come when we park in a handicap space. Wife lays her placard on the dash and we get out and I comment in their direction "After all, it is an old car" and walk away. They give a look of disgust....and then walk around to see if we parked legally.

I'm glad to see people drive 'em! They look great Coleman! I was driving home from Wisconsin today and a really nice Charger pulled in all dirty from being driven in the rain, I told the guy it was cool to see it being driven, he said that's what they are for! I must agree!

Married to Tara, that makes me the TARA-fied one!

Looks like fun, hope to be there soon, missing my window of >50* weather pretty soon.

(Yes, I know the 65 sits a little high in the rear, I was hoping the mid eye springs would settle, but after a year they have not.  Probably gonna add a couple of spacers to lower it.)

Have you tried loosening the front eye bolts and bouncing the rear bumper? I have mideyes on my '67 and with 15" tires my fender lip is only 1/2" above my tire tread if that much, yours looks really high for being mideyes? No extended shackles right?

+1....I have never seen the point to owning a trailer / garage queen.

There's no way I would invest all the time, money, blood, sweat and tears to simply sit there and look at the Mustang without ever driving it.

Try putting some gas in there, that may bring the back end down a little........ :craz

Here's to you. :10 :10 :10 :10 :10

All the time.

I thought about driving the Mustang to work today but didn't for two reasons...

one, I woke up late so I didn't have time to take the car cover off and get her warmed up, etc.

Two, the local car club's charity show is coming up week from tomorrow.  I just got a scratch fixed that the boys had put on the car and I don't have time to deal with another scratch / door ding and I am trying to keep her looking her best between now and the show.

Yes, the 67 has the T56.  Makes for a lot of "peddling", but would not have it any other way.  There is a gear for plowing and a gear for cruising.

Nice rides  :good

No, but I will try that, thanks for the tip!

I drive mine as much as I can. Take it to work all the time. It's about a 30 mile commute one way. I get strange looks when I take to get groceries or Walmart.

I'm digging the 67. Nice lowered look, are those 18" wheels? What size tires are you running on there?

I drive mine a lot of places....but I don't even like to go past Walmart and no way I'd actually pull in there and park!

Took mine for about a 20 minute cruise over to Nifty 50's with a 20 minute return trip on Saturday night and she was running pretty well.

Wal Mart, Winn Dixie, K-Mart, restaurants....heck, I even park it in Midlife's driveway/garage......any place I want to drive it, I will park. I do try to avoid stupid parking like at the front door....unless the wife is with me and has her handicap placard. I drive it more than the '10 Focus..
