Anyone had any experience with these window trims?  The price cut makes them tempting.

Order 2 and picked up the emblems at Dallas Mustang this last weekend.  DM was having their open house so I go 10% off the emblems.

Got mine this afternoon. Beautiful. I'm a far cry away from putting it on but it was too good a deal to pass up.
BTW, no, they are not damaged thus the sale. It was new, chrome awesome and well packed. Many times the vendor will pack the chrome with the screws for whatever part it is. It pisses me off. Screws scratch dumbass. This pop-open cap was wrapped in a soft material and the screws and other items were bagged.
Now, how does it all go together? There were no instructions! :rp

I rec'd mine yesterday and it was fine.

I put it together today and would not have figured it out except I had another complete gas cap assy to use as a model.  I'll post instructions tomorrow(if I can remember), too busy at work now but off the bat, my 4 screws were to large of a diameter (size #5?), you need size #4, quantity 4.

Here are some quick instructions:

1.  install the emblem on the flip-door.  In my emblem kit, the supplied retainers were one size too big, I needed 3/16 (?) but Lowe's was out of those and I bought 5/32" e-clips instead.
2.  turn the flip door upside down, resting the emblem against a towel (FYI, I did not take the flip door off the base)
3.  place the spring against the back of the door
4.  get the "cup" that has the gasket on it, place it on top of the spring with the gasket facing up
5.  get the longer of the machine screws and the one washer, place the washer into the recessed hole of the cup and use the screw to attach the cup/screw assy to center hole in the back of the door
6.  place the small rubber/black gasket in the recessed area of the gasket cup
7.  lay the small "cap" over the black gasket, pointed end up, and use the 4 screws (in my case #4 machine 1/2" long) to attach the small cap to the gasket cup.

Returned it and received an email today, it is now on backorder. :cry

They said it will be less than 14 business days, I hope they are right.

when installing it on the car is there a gasket or rubber seal that goes behind it? or does it just go up against the paint?

In my experience with CJ's that has never been the case. You'll wait 14 business days and then they'll tell you it's still on backorder. I've been waiting on uncovered sail panels for almost 2 weeks now that were supposed to be in on the 14th (that I ordered on the 8th).

Yes, there is a rubber cork type gasket that fits behind it.

Doesn't the cork gasket go behind the filler tube?

I got mine today and it looks great.  I thought I'd mention that if you use a locking gas cap under the pop-open, you don't have to mess with any of the attachments that come with it.

The Stant number that comes up for the Mustang is 10483 but it's too big to fit under the pop-open.  The 10491 I believe is the one I have, and it's smaller than the 10483.  I thought there was a part number on it, but there isn't.

10483

10491
