Idiots at car shows
« on: October, 11, 2010, 09:27:50 AM »
Why must there be an idiot at every car show??  This past Saturday I met up with Sluggo & another Friend at the local Saturday car show at Otto's BBQ in Sugarland.  There was a MORON in a red somewhere in the 68 to 70 year range Nova that started that damn car every 15 minuets for everyone that walked by and revved the hell out of it.  To add to this he was drinking glass bottled beer several that I noticed. This Idiot parked next to my friends 2007 GT500 and at one point I saw the idiot put his hand on the Shelby and use it as a leaning post. I walked over on that side of the car and he moved before I said something.

:wtf  All I can say is this guy needed a good arse Whoopin.

Any of you guys have Idiot at the car show stories?

It's true.  People just like to touch shart when it's not theirs.  I have to say it at least 3 or 4 times each show.  And it's normally not kids even.  I even had one lady yell back at me -telling me that I didn't have to "yell" at her.  But frack!  She was SITTING against my front fender!

What kind of show was it?  If a club were running it, then they should have shut him down for starting the car and kicked his butt out for drinking.  If it happened at my show he would have been kicked out so fast his head would have been spinning.

It was one of thoes every Saturday night unoffical car shows that go on. On nice weather days this show draws some pretty nice cars. there is some junk there also but for the most part it is a good excuse to meet up with your buds hang out look at the cars and grab a bite to eat.  Less the A$$ in the Nova LOL!!

I went over to Nifty 50's last Saturday with some guys from our local club.  There was some loud mouthed idiot running around at that show.

He had come around earlier in the evening talking loudly (basically to himself) about something but I don't recall what, had something to do with the rat rod behind me and over about three spaces.  He went on so whatever.  Later, my buddy's '67 GTO was parked next to my Mustang.  Mr. Loud mouth came back around saying something about the goat having an automatic and how having an automatic in a muscle car is wrong.  I came really close to asking him, "so what the bleep are you driving tough guy?"  since I was guessing he was just some idiot that showed up to look and didn't actually bring a car to the show...probably drove a beat up Ford Escort or something.  I took a pass however since the boys were with me and I didn't feel like having to either drop him like a bad habit or pin the dude till the cops showed up.

Just one of the 237 reasons why I stay away from shows. I don't mind looking, but to have some jackwad try to tell me I should've done this or that is just too much.

I love car shows, idiots and all. I wish I had a video camera with me, but I was at one show where an idiot with a camero kept starting and rev'ing his car to show off his exhaust and his wicked sounding motor. We heard this:

BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKAKAKAKAAAA CLANKa, RATTLERATTLERATTLECLANKACLANKACLANKACLANKACLANKAHISSSSSSS and saw clouds of white smoke coming from under his hood .This was followed by applause and laughter from the entire crowd, including a standing ovation from me. He left on a tow dolly behind a dodge pickup. Priceless.

Mark, try to say the sounds that I spelled above out loud.  I hope that my description of the sound does not sound too familiar, and you are NOT an idiot because your motor crapped the bed on a track, not a burger joint parking lot.

I was at the San Diego Mustangs By The Bay show about eight years ago with Trouble.  It was the first show where the car moved under its own power, but it had no exhaust on yet, just open headers.  The club knew I was coming in like that (car in a trailer) and so they had me come in early so not too many people would be there and hear it.  Didn't want a noise violation ticket.

Later on, a race car came in and parked maybe 50 feet away from me.  Late in the afternoon, some people got him to fire it up and they were all commenting on how cool the car sounded and everything.  Well, my friends and I just looked at each other and they all said, "fire it up."  When that 390 came alive, it drowned out the race car.  The guy didn't start it anymore after that.  LOL!

I've been pretty lucky for the most part at car shows. I even let people sit in my car and get their picture taken. Especially kids. I did go to this one show and a lady about my age pulls in next to me in a mid 90's Mustang GT convertible. We were all sitting in the shade behind the car. When she got out of her car she swung her door open and hit my car. My wife launched out of her chair and just about killed her! I had to send my wife away with the boys to calm down. This lady broke into tears and was crying and freaking out. She just bought the car and I could tell she was just way too excited and out of control. Her husband came over from somewhere in the crowd to see what was going on. When he found out what happened he apologized they both got in the car and left. My wife is still pissed about that to this day!

Married to Tara, that makes me the TARA-fied one!

This.

Also, the chebby crowd around my area always get to the shows about three hours before it starts and circle their boyracer cars where no one else can park. Nine times out of ten if you hear a car revving its engine its a chebby.

Most Ford guys I have observed are more low key, chebby guys are mostly cocky, showoffs.

There is a local car club called the "gorillaz" they all have late model caprices with features like 26 inch spinner rims, purple metal flake paint, lambo doors, etc. They arrive as a group and have "gorillaz" in their rear windows in big chrome sticker letters. This weekend, I was sitting with some old coot who, when he saw them approaching, said "guess who ain't in the mist no more?" right when the gorillaz passed us. You had to be there, but it was really funny.

No, not familiar at all. Mine still runs like a chicken that's just been Kev'd even when only running on 7 cylinders. Even when one dies the other 7 are still hunt'n PTs.

Man, those asshats that sit there revving up their motor really suck. We used to have an awesome weekly local car show with oldies music and raffle and a good group of car guys. Even though I was only 16-17 at the time, they still accepted me because I wasn't the kid doing burnouts in the parking lot and had done most of my own work on my 68. The show ended up getting shut down by the local PD because of the "racers" coming down there with open headers and starting them all up to try and out-do each other. They had also started doing burnouts in the parking lot on the way out.

It sucks when you have guys like that that ruin a great thing.

Attended a car show here last year with my B2. A friend Russ was parked next to me with his 68 coupe. A grandpa came by with his 4 year old grandson. We were talking about the coupe and looked behind us and the 4 year old was relieving himself on Russes rear wheel and quarter panel. Grandpa said this is the kids first and last car show. I finally got Russ to laugh after a cooling down period. Gary
