Going Under Trouble Again
« on: September, 24, 2010, 11:03:01 AM »
While a friend was visiting me the last couple of days we took the opportunity to pull Trouble's rear end.  Due to damage my mechanic caused, I need to sand repaint the whole thing.  I'll repaint the axle and pumpkin Sapphire Blue like they are now, but I'm going to repaint the red lead oxide third member black.  Have to be different, you know.  ;)

Then, "while I"m at it" I'm going to clean and repaint the leaf springs and do some touch up work on the chassis where it was hard to reach before.  I'm also going to get the traction bars powdercoated.  Because the differential is leaking, I'll also have to take that apart and reseal it somehow.  I'm also checking into a Traction Locker for it.

I just hope to have help again when it goes to reinstalling that monster!

As you should remember, Laurie detailed the underside of Trouble to the extent that it's painted body color (BC/CC) to include the Lemans stripes!  That the axle housing is not 100% perfect and she's going to "detail it" comes as no surprise to me.

Nope, the teardown wasn't photographed and I'll be working on it on my own pretty much.  Sorry, can't help it, I'm a perfectionist.   :craz

I suppose it's good to be fussy .... try the Eaton Detroit Trutrac differentials.  I have had no trouble at all with these units.
