Shelby Open Track Pics (SAAC 35)
« on: August, 28, 2010, 07:03:41 PM »
Here are some pics from the event today.  I drove up to Sears Point with: cmayna, KBMWRS, & crustycurmudgeon.
Also in attendance was the Steet & Track crew (ran their cars), garner67 (ran his car), SAC69, and some others who do not frequent the forum.

Here are a few of the pictures I took:

In front of the Palace of the Legion of Honor

Another one

A telephoto shot I took from the top of the grandstand to the lot I parked in.  I couldn't spot my car with my eyes, so I pointed the camera where I thought I parked.  You can just barely see my car.

Here's the non-telephoto view

Meanwhile, Craig, Mike & Marco snuck into the parking area they shouldn't have had access to  :omg

Far left is LanceMach

He was pitted there at Shaun's place. Shaun was taking his car for spin when I left at 3pm.

This car's history is  pretty cool. I hope the new owner keeps it as is.
Thanks for the pictures for those of us that couldn't be there.

It doesn't bother me all that much, I got it and a two car garage FULL of parts for a great price. I think my best bet is to buy a clone and swap all the parts over to this body.

My boy JD is only 5yrs old , it might make a good father/son project in a few years.

That's mine.  My brother bought it from the original owner back around 1980.  My first Mustang was also a burnt amber coupe, so I've had two of them.  One of the rarest '67 colors for sure.

I had a great time cruising the lot and watching the races, especially the Trans-Am race, which was way cool.  I was at the photo shoot but neglected to introduce myself to the others I did not know. I should have introduced myself to John at OpenTracker as I'm using his coil perches and Shawn at Street or Track as I have a pair of his strut rods, I way really eyeing his trick export brace.

Here are some of my pics:

possibly a clone?

Your comment, "most likely the real thing"  made me recall, like an idiot, there was a signboard I briefly read, (it's in the background) that this car came in 2nd (?) in 1967 at The 12 hrs at Sebring (?) so it apparently is real.  Sorry.

Here are two other images, you can see the signboard.

Here's some in-car video of the Trans Am race taken from the #5 black Falcon, which you can barely see at the far left of the above pic.

Yes there was. Three cars in turn 2. Two Boss 302's and a early coup.

Here is a pic. of one of them. Sad to see. I saw the other two drive by where I was and they were in worse shape.

The shat-head driver with the mosquito fogger should have pulled off course instead of staying on the racing line. He caused 4 vintage cars to be damaged unnecessarily and he dropped oil all the way into the pits. That and the accident caused a clean up delay that affected the racing schedule for the rest of the day.

thats the same stuff the 2 dollar hondas do at the racetrack by me. They blow something can tell theres a problem and still go balls out all the down the strip. Which leads to a lengthy delay or closure of the lane.
