Major road work for Shag this weekend - Videos
« on: August, 22, 2010, 08:13:54 PM »
Yesterday started off breaking in Shag's rear end gears by doing 2 very light jaunts of 20 miles each around the country side keeping below 50mph and letting the rear end cool for a couple hours after each trip.  Later on in the afternoon, Shag and I went up to visit GTSCODE who lives 12+ miles north of me and then did some more country cruisin.  Ending up doing about 75 miles.

Today we (Shag and I, only one seat installed) went to harass KBMWRS who lives 45-50 miles/minutes south of me.  90% freeway driving time.  The car traveled very well.  Speedometer is 7 mph too fast in reading so I need to up from the current 19 to a 20 tooth speedometer gear for the T5.  I do have an annoying rearend whining sound that I need to address in due time.  The carb is also running very rich.

I still have a long ways to go to make the car even more road worthy but now it's time to get serious on the interior.

I was going to do a lot more videos but got too distracted driving and listening to the car. Damn noisy without virtually any interior. Glad I had some ear plugs.

Nevertheless here's a couple videos I took today while entering KBMWRS's town.  Sorry for all the clackity clack sounds but with tools sliding around the bare floor and me man handling the camera, it was pretty noisy, but fun.

Congrats! Did you get smoked by a prius? Don't let the Prius become what the PT is to Mark.....

Thanks for stopping by!  Shag looks great. You have done awesome work.

I installed the front grill trim piece. It looks pretty good, the Scott Drake piece doesn't match the cortex pieces perfectly but good enough.

I spent about 6 hours on the tail panel pieces and still didn't finish but they do look great so far.

I borrowed Red's steering wheel which is wood looking plastic, for the day.     Waiting for my Moto-Lita to arrive.

About 17 seconds into the 2nd video there is a Mustang on the right hand side and you drop the camera before you get a good look at it. Was that the FB that Mike posted a picture of a while back?

Oh, and that  :ga sound you made at the end of the video....may want to edit that out...

Nope no classics other than Craig's and mine in that video. I didn't notice a Mustang 17seconds in. There' a neighbor's 05 vert and my 02 but that's about it.

Which Moto-Lita wheel did you purchase... wood grain or black leather?

Are either of those Moto-Lita wheels going to look good with a parchment interior?

Going wood grain.  Didn't go black for I already have black dash pad, dash inserts and carpet. Yes Dave, for me, it will be just fine.  But as with so many other items on these cars, you can always replace them.

Craig mentioned he went with the same wheel as me but in 15", I went with 14".
