Past cars we've owned
« on: December, 04, 2008, 08:58:46 AM »
I got nostalgic reading the December car of the month thread when Sluggo posted his Eleanor-like Mach 1 from the past. I decided to dig out some old photo's and share them. Maybe the rest of us will too...
Here is my 1st car, a 67 Mustang I bought when I was 15.

Here it is after my dad, my (now) brother-in-law and I fixed it up.

I grew up in the frozen Northern tundra of the Chicagoland area where salt was used to melt the ice on the roads. I aquired several "beaters" to drive in the winter after using my 1st car as a daily driver for several years.
Here is a shot of the first 3 cars I owned all together, a 67 Hardtop (1st car), 67 FB, (second car) and my 72 Torino which became my daily driver

The 67 FB got wrecked (totalled) by my couzin and the Torino eventually died a slow death with around 215,000 miles on it. I bought a 1980 Monza Spyder to be my daily driver (I beat that poor car hard!)

I have had so many cars since it's not even funny but I will never forget the first one! I had it about 10 years. The 67 I have now was bought by a guy I worked at Caterpiller with. He found it at an auction. It was his wife's 1st car. He wanted to restore it but became impatient and offered me a wad of cash for my 67. I sold it to him and used the money as down payment on my 1st house and quickly bought his 67 for $650 and I have had it about 18 years now. It started out looking like this...

I never realized it would take so long to get it to this point but life happens!

let's see your guys (and gals) past

Here is a picture of my car when I purchased it 4 years ago.

And here is my first mustang.  I purchased it in 1992 and sold it in 1997.  As you can see I like red.  The coupe is Porsche Guards Red.

Here is my first Mustang, a 1990 5.0.  I convinced my Dad to let me get it when I was 17 (1993), and sold it in 2003 to fund my wife's engagement ring.  I painted it myself twice, once in college when I worked in a Ford body shop, and later when I managed a Toyota body shop.  This is after the first repaint.  It was originally black.  It had ported heads, Cobra manifold, 4.10 gears, a Compucar nitrous kit, and even a Vortech S trim for a short while.  I bent a connecting rod, so I sold the blower to fund the rebuild.  Fun car, and I miss her.

Here are some of mine......I dont have a scanner, so a pic of a pic is gonna have to do.

First ride, right after I got it in '85 when I was 15

Got my license on Wed, got rearended Sat night coming home from work by a guy with no Ins. Folks shelled out the coin to fix and repaint. I worked all summer to buy the centerlines and tires.

Then got all four on

First tear down before I sold it in '95

Then I had this t-bird for a while

This ones for Sluggo, I bought this TA because it had T-tops, the PO had wrecked it. I stuck some replacement sheetmetal on it and resold it, never drove it.

Then the '88 5.0

Funny, you can see my first car in the background of two pictures.

Sluggo, your '73 Bird is sweet!!!!  I can't believe you sold that.  I'm going to have to call you a dumbass for that one, sorry.  I'd give a teste for a '73-'74 SD car.

It was a YC code car. Ram Air but not SD. SD formulas had shakers.

I can't believe it either.
As it turns out the guy who owns the car now is friends with a guy I work with. Found out by chance. The car has been pretty well molested.
It's been all restomodded up and he sold off the ram air parts and the endura bumper.  ~sp

My first one that I restored was a '67 Pontiac Firebird with the 326 in it.
