Who sells excellent repro bumpers?
« on: June, 02, 2010, 09:53:52 PM »
I had a pair on my 67 that were ok from NPD but I never liked the bottom of them. They looked like the chrome had been sprayed on. I'd like to get my originals re-chromed some day but in the meantime, I want to price out some repros. Opinions on what they bought? How are Tony Branda's?

NPD found a new supplier about a year or so ago.  From what I here, the quality is very good.  As good or better than the old Nordans, before they turned to crap.  I haven't seen one, but I have heard nothing bad about them.

I got a set of the new ones from NPD ('69-'70). Very nice.

So whats the difference in price of repros versus rechrome? Is that difference worth the possible headache and purchase of repros and possbile return?

not sure about your area, but around here it will cost in the neighborhod of $250-$300 per bumper to get rechromed.

I have not priced re-chroming services but I was assuming the cost was significantly higher than repros.

It might be worth asking Rick at NPD if the '67 repro's are from the same company as the "new"  '69-'70 ones. If so, I would go that route. They a way better than the old ones. IMO.   ricks@npdlink.com

Figure double to 3 times as much for re-chroming.  That's why I still have the old crap Nordan on the back of my '69.  I was planning to re-chrome a '70 bumper that I have.  Just haven't gotten around to it, yet, mostly because of price.

I may just get one of the new repros from NPD instead.
