No need to give up the man card.  Now if you had said you would like to make her new minivan your daily driver  :omg  Then you would need to get rid of the Man Card.

Buying one for the better half does not necessarily deserve to lose one's man card, IMHO. Now, if you LIKE it....that, is an entirely different story  :ga

Did the same thing in 1984. She wanted a minivan to travel to dog shows. Traded in the 1981 Mustang Cobra she drove. I had a 1965 daily driver back then. In 1985 she got a new job that included a company car.  So...in the fall of 1985, while she was in OKC on business, I traded in her Plymouth Voyager on a new 1986 GT Mustang. Dog crate and tack box fit in the hatchback just fine.

So it is not just me then.  :beat The SWMBO DD is a 96 Aerostar. She wonders why I do not like driving it.  :nk  Good points are that it has the 4.0 and rear wheel drive, BUT it is a minivan.

The thing is huge...a bit bigger than our 93 Ford Exploder.  So big, there's no more than 8" of clearance from the boxes in front to the garage door.  I went all around town for a hanging ball on a string that I've seen before in the auto stores.  In fact, I use it for Midlife.  The ball hangs from the ceiling, and when the windshield hits it, you know you've pulled far enough.

Anyway, I spent 2+ hours going to all of the part stores, plus Target and WallyWorld.  Them things don't exist!  While at WallyWorld, I looked through the sporting goods section, and found 2" fishing floats with hooks!  Good enough for my purpose.

The thing is Titanium silver, a dark metallic silver.  It has leather seats, a DVD player in the rear for the dogs, 3 zone A/C, seat position memories, etc.  $5k under retail, but a bit more than I cared to spend.  Oh well, someone is happy in the house.

And yes, it is a Kia Sedona.

all you had to do was cut a hole in a tennis ball and insert a piece of clothesline.  Thats what i did for my wife.  It works perfectly.

Yep, used tennis balls in all the parking spaces that the wife used. Cheap and simple.

Old geezers and soccer moms is all I ever see in mini vans.......but some soccer moms look good in them.

Better find them cat videos for the dogs to watch.

BTW, the grandson about died when it hit him the Explorer is his....thanks Randy.

Well you have my sympathies.

We bought the wife a new DD last year. Got her another Jeep Grand Cherokee and she insisted on getting the Hemi so she can race all the punks in their hondas. She refuses to ever own a minivan.

LOL.  My wife feels the same way.  She has asked me to shoot her if she ever asks for a mini van and I have definitely agreed.  When you sit in a mini van, your man-hood is sucked out through your arse and blown out the exhaust pipe.

We just bought a new car this year.  We decided to splurge a bit and bought a Honda Accord EX with pretty much every bell and whistle it comes with.  Very nice car.  Very comfortable, too.  I opted for the 4 cylinder engine for the  gas mileage.  Figured we've got TONS of power sitting in the garage for those times we want power. :ecit

Well, I guess I gave mine up last year.  The wife, kids, and parents were heading to the beach the same day I was going down with the guys.  I went out that morning, bought a Sedona, called her up and told her to take mom to go pick up Kate and come by work.  Threw her the keys and told 'em to pack what they wanted so they wouldn't feel cramped.  We've had it a year now and pretty much use it on the weekends and for trips.  I haven't regretted it since.  The wife won't give up her Camry for a DD but she won't let me take the van for my DD.  Yes, I'd drive it every day.  Not only can you haul a ton of stuff but I can just imagine how nice that thing would be come hunting season.  Head up to the land and leave the car running while I get dressed for multiple hours of sitting in 20* weather.  Not to mention the amount of gear and deer you can haul.  Yes, I like our minivan and yes, I'd drive one everyday.  And Mid, just wait till the punks wanna race you.  Those things will move.  I think it's freakin' hilarious when some unsuspecting subject wants to "race to the lane merge" and I get to look at them in the rearview mirror of the MINIVAN!!!  My wife was always anti-minivan.  I guess she still is for a dd but when you can throw the back seats down, put a 4 year old and a 1 year old in the middle seats and put their freakin' bedrooms in the back...the whole world can kiss my a$$.

Thanks dude.  I guess I can say I use the van as a disguise.  Maybe the ultimate in irony would be to carry the S&W 500 in it.

Once you had a "mini", you aint never going back!

The things are seriously conveniant, and are good on long trips and for hauling stuff.  Rides a lot better than an Explorer.
