Should I be Concerned About This???
« on: April, 24, 2010, 07:17:31 PM »
I think I'm getting soft in my old age...

Tonight, I let my "little girl" (age 18) go off to her prom in a white Pontiac Trans Am with a boy I hardly know. She looked like a million bucks, wearing a short, strapless white dress and heels...

Should I be concerned???.....

I'm pretty sure that prom night is one that no father wants to see pictures of.  As a father, I'm dreading this night, and it's not for another 16 years!

I meant I wanted a photo of the car, geeze  :)

All jokes aside, your daughter is very pretty and you have every reason for concern!

I'm betting she takes after her mom, got any photos of her?  :)  I'm kidding again!

As a Dad, always be concerned. But look at it this way. There's no back seat in a Trans Am. Most GM (especially white trans am) owners are gay...so all in all you should be ok.
My oldest is 12 and I'm already planning the extra tattoos and guns to "impress" the future boyfriends. Cleaning them in my skivvies when they come to pick the girls up.

She's a lovely girl and I'm sure you raised her right so you should have no worries Bob. :vic

Heck, yes, you should be concerned!  She's going to be the talk of the town with the scandal of arriving in a Pontiac!  She may never recover!

My oldest and middle daughter were kinda peeved they couldn't find any dresses that were modest.  Everything was sleeveless and too short or in their words "Slutty" and such.

My Oldest went with a Zoot Suiter in his low rider Nissan truck!   I can tell you I already knew the kid and he knew I was a cop.  He was a good kid.  Besides I trusted my daughter.  She recently wore a white dress to her wedding and it was definately desirved if you know what I mean.  My only regret is that I didn't loan them my 66 coupe that I had then.

My middle daughter decided to go it alone.  She wore a long black and silver dress with short sleeves.  She drove our Excursion.

If your daughter is in a group and you trust her, then nothing to worry about.  The only thing I would worry about is the T/A.

This thread pi$$e$ me off.  Why?  Because I was THAT guy, had the mustang, and now have a daughter.  Thanks Bob, I think I'll go throw up now.  If there is one wish I have for my daughter it's that she gets her mom's sex drive.

BTW, I had NO "real" concerns. She's a good kid and makes good choices.

I would've kicked that kid right out of the drive without the daughter.  He isn't holding the door for her.  He's in the car while she is still in the rain.  Oh he[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[ no.

Me too Duane, I have the same wish for mine.  It's scary shart having a daughter, and knowing exactly what goes through a teenage boy's mind 24/7.

I don't know much about hair styles, but as I see it, he must be doing something right.

It's been 8 years since we saw our daughter off to the Prom, but I couldn't stand her date! It was long night for us! It was her boyfriend and I had to chase him away on more than one occasion. Thank god she saw the light and broke it off with him!

To the proud Pops that posted Prom photos of their daughters, Hope they had the time of their lives!

Dave.

I don't think there's much to worry about with that kid.  Looks like your daughter could probably take him out with one punch. :beat

I think by the sound of things, your daughter has been taught well. On the other hand, I'm with Duane - Dude should have definitely helped her in the car first. Maybe that's a little old fashioned, but what can I say. Today's generation of kids definitely do things a little differently. By the way Bob, your daughter looked very nice. Congratulations on making it through prom night!

My two are 26 and 22 now. One of them has given me a grandson already and the other gags when you mention the word marriage. I made it through two prom nights unscathed.

New Orleans Red velour interior in the T/A?
My daughter went with a group of 20 kids last year. H2 stretched limo  with 20 way split on the cost. All of the girls were dressed much as your daughter, and most of the guy's looked like her date. My only concern was for the poor outsider sob that tried to hit on any of the girls in the group. They protect each other like siblings. Most of the "kids" have known and hung around with each other since middle school.

Being a GM product, the kid was doing the polite thing.....he got the car started and made sure he could keep it running before allowing her to enter. Nothing worse than sitting in a dead car all dressed and nowhere to go....cuz the dang GM won't run.
