I know this has been beat to death and back but is the zinc the main reason some of you run diesel oil in your cars?

I'm going to run Valvoline 20w50 VR1 and add GM EOS for break-in. Mainly due to immediate availability.

After that I'll probably run Castrol GTX Diesel. It has a pretty high amount of zinc.

Sluggo, that is the flavor of Valvoline I use. Also using a K&N oil filter this time. Don't know if it's any better than the Motorcraft I have always used but figured for $4.00 more I'd give it a try. Any opinion of filters?

I always use autolite/motorcraft parts where I can. Using FL-1A oil filter.

I run a Wix filter for 2 reasons.

1) It's a quality filter.  (reference: oil filter comparison study)

2) I like the black case.

I use the Motorcraft FL-HP filter, have for years....works great.Is it better than a 1A? don't know.
