Okay, fess up...how many of you have had a boo-boo on the stang when working on it. I mean injury to the paint etc. I installed some Tony Branda hood pins the other day and decided to use some really nice button head hex screws that I had picked up recently. Well, I had to wallow the holes just a tad and then use a tap to thread the holes for the button heads. On the very last hole, I slipped with the drill bit and put a nice 1" scratch deep into the clear coat right by the pins. The plate would not cover it up either. Aarghhhh, sh*t like this just pisses me off sometimes. Yeah, I had some very choice words right after a little cry of desperation uttered forth. Kind of like Hank Hill going Aiiiii when he would see something he didn't quite believe. I do like the hood pins though and Tony has some nice stuff. Way better than the cheapo junk that most mustang places sell. These are heavy chrome and won't rust like the cheap one's seem to do. Okay, fess up...what's your worst boo-boo???????? :cry

good edit! I'll just say that 18 year old paint chips VERY easy. I've had more than one touch up.

I sanded through a high spot I missed, when wetsanding the car. Still pi$$es me off today and that was 6 yrs ago!

I damaged my polished tall valve cover from Tony Branda when trying to pry off the L-shape support that suppose to hold the ignition wire seperators

I chipped the 2-day old paint at the corners installing the back glass window molding, then dented the previously-perfect original molding trying to install it.

I scratched my paint on my explorer when I painted it. I asked the wife to help me hold the bumper in place and she put me off so I got impatient and did it myself and it slipped and scratched it. I also burned through the clear and some of my flames on a sharp edge on the exploder.

A couple weeks ago, I threw the air hose over the workbench instead of just laying it on the bench and walking around the other side to get it. When I threw it, the disconnect hit my wife's Mustang and put a chip in the rear fender. That is the third chip I done on her mustang and it is not even close to being driven,

I guess the worst for me, was when I walked into the garage, dropped my pry bar and watched it attack my fender in slow motion.

Either that, or backing into that 4-Runner up at Lake Tahoe.

I sanded through the base on my car in a few places. I fixed them all with the airbrush and you can't tell.
Then I found some orange peel on my left mirror. Instead of using my palm with 1500 grit, I used a small
thin block and sanded through the high point on the the mirror. I still need to airbrush that one.

Then there was that time I was helping Rick line up his sheet metal........

i dropped a pliers on the nose of my car and put a big chip in the paint. Thanks a lot for making me think about that again! :rp

oh crap where's my list........How about today when I took Shag for a spin around the warehouse complex and forgot to install the speedo cable into the tranny hole which was only taped over. Talking about leaving a trail of red bread crumbs.

There are so many I'm not going to get into it unless you get me totally snockered.

It is a toss up between sitting in the car with my feet sticking out and deciding to roll it back just a little Fred Flintstone style, all the while forgetting about the slight drop-off from the garage and the driveway.Yep, back wheels dropped off,car started rolling,legs stuck between car body and door. Tried to pull the door shut thru my legs, Bam !! Door edge meets garage door track. Chipped paint all along the edge. :rp The other was when I dropped a 4' aluminum level and as Johnpro said "watched in slow motion" as it just caught the passenger side door on the way down and took about a 1 1/2" gash down to the bare metal.

+1 to that!!! I really don't care about my current paint. But the worst thing that I've done is not pull the car far enough into the garage when I closed the door. It was just far enough back to take the paint off the rear quarter extensions, but nothing else.

That one is my fault, all I heard was "open the door"........ On my first Mustang I thought maybe I had a bad radiator cap that was causing the overheating so I swapped, then proceeded to close the hood and the locking tab on the cap put a nice dent and crack in the hood. Or the scratch in the clear coat when i installed the mirror..... the list goes on...

I pushed the car out of the garage while SWMBO was out of town to make it easier for the appraiser to walk around it in the sunlight. When I pushed it back in, by myself, I didn't turn the wheel enough to get it full on its side of the garage. SWMBO came home, parked her SUV in the garage in the usual spot, and the kids, who have been told to get out on the passenger side since before the fastback came home, managed to open the driver side door and I have a glaringly obvious (to me) door ding on my fender and I haven't even been to walmart yet. Fortunately there was no crack or chip to the paint, so I'm hoping I can get a paintless dent removal guy to push it out for me.

Then I went to install the export brace and scraped through the clear on my cowl, about a 1/16" scrape 2-3" long.

I dropped the F'ing harmonic ballancer end/point piece on the headlight bucket. Of course it just missed the fender cover by 2" - I didn't have them far enough down. LUCKILY the piece didn't fall nose down otherwise the pointed part would of dug right into the finish. It's just left a little crescent moon shape in the clear. Not real noticeable...
