Interesting read - thanks for posting.  I've always wanted to have my trucks oil tested, just never had.  I think I'll do it.

I expected to see more water in the oil, at least that would have confirmed where it's going. From the initial fire to today, water disappears out of the radiator. No leaks, no water in the oil (to speak of), no water out the pipes. It's like the water version of Laurie's gas fairy  :craz

The PT's sneak in and screw with your water level.......

Any small leak could be dropping on the exhaust and evaporating without trace. You might look for a clean spot on the exhaust. Your plugs might tell if you are burning a bit if one plug is cleaner then the rest also.

Also, if the radiator is filled to the top, with no overflow bottle, it will find its own level just above the core. With a bottle, it should stay to the top of the tank.

No visible signs of water running anywhere. Plugs all read the same and OK. I have an overflow and if I fill both up, by the end of a long drive or at the track it will empty the overflow. It's never caused a problem and after 6 years, I've given up on it.

I've had the heads pressure checked....twice, have had the engine out 4 times in 6 years, no leaks were found, no trace of any leaks....nothing. I know I'm missing it somewhere, but I'm at the point where I'm not interested in looking anymore. The oil sample was the last test!

I'll live with it now till the motor grenades.

Have you pressure tested the whole system with a radiator pressure tester? That may help you find your problem.

Bought a tester just for that...............no drop in pressure, first cold, then hot.

Ya know....that other tube coming from the overflow tank is not a drinking straw....

The bottom hose is for the rad. overflow, the top is for the overflow exit......just makin' sure...lol

Water was disappearing from the wife's mustang.  No water in the oil, didn't smell anti-freeze coming out of the tail pipe...  After one trip, where I was doing some testing, and was driving it pretty hard, I popped the hood when I got back in the garage.  I noticed an antifreeze smell and a little on the radiator.  Come to find out that the hose going from the radiator to the overflow didn't have a good fit and when pressurized it was escaping past the hose.  Put on a better hose and now all is better.

Here is the report that Oil Analyzers provides - they also have the info online so you can log in and view it there (they email you a copy).

will send off 2 samples to Blackstone Labs. One sample will be the used oil from last year and the other will be a virgin sample right out of the bottle. Both are Redline 30wt race oil, I'll post the results when I get them.

I'm more interested in the clean oil and its amount of Zinc.

I sent off a sample of the truck oil last year and it came back that the engine was in great shape!

Mark, I just received my report from Blackstone regarding the 20/50 I'm running in Shag and the VOA (Virgin Oil Analysis) came back with 1295 zinc and 986 in Phosphates.

Well sorry to say, but I had the senior moment for not listing the brand.  It is Brad Penn's  racing oil
